Goodbye Country

"Goodbye Country" is a hauntingly poetic short film that follows a weathered horse farmer, Kjell, as he grapples with grief, memory, and the remnants of a fractured life. When a mysterious woman arrives to help heal his injured horse using an uncanny device that visualizes trauma, Kjell is forced to confront the pain buried in both the animal and himself.

As memories begin to blur with surreal visions, the lines between past and present dissolve in a dreamlike descent through guilt and longing. Set against the barren beauty of rural Skåne, Goodbye Country explores themes of love, loss, and the ghosts we carry—offering a tender meditation on what it means to let go, and how healing often requires a reckoning with the landscapes of our own minds.
